Governance arrangements shaping driverless shuttles in public transport: The case of Barkarbystaden, Stockholm

Based on an understanding of automation as various technological and organisational configurations in the making, this article aims to deepen insights into governance arrangements shaping how is being introduced public transport. Using a qualitative case study, we analyse introduction automated shuttle buses Barkarbystaden, north-west Stockholm region, Sweden. Participant observation interviews have been used explore arrangement forming case. We use planning literature ‘soft spaces’ discuss emerges connection established processes actors. Our findings show transferred existing roles responsibilities collaboration involving driverless shuttles, something which gives bus operator new influential role smart mobility The concludes with discussion about need think critically ways roles, relations may be shaped reshaped collaborative around mobility, develop more clearly articulated policy agenda clarifies long-term vision for infrastructure transport planning.
